Orange Creamsicle White Russian

  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

To make a single serving of Orange Creamsicle White Russian, you’ll need:

  • 1 ½ oz (45 ml) vodka – A smooth, high-quality vodka works best.
  • 1 oz (30 ml) coffee liqueur – Kahlúa or any good-quality coffee liqueur.
  • 1 oz (30 ml) freshly squeezed orange juice – Preferably from fresh oranges for the best flavor.
  • ½ oz (15 ml) vanilla simple syrup – Adds a sweet, creamy taste (recipe below).
  • 1 oz (30 ml) heavy cream or half-and-half – Creates a smooth, creamy texture.
  • ½ tsp orange zest – For an extra citrusy kick.
  • Ice cubes – To chill the drink.
  • Garnishes: Orange slice, grated orange zest, or a vanilla sugar rim.

Instructions

Step 1: Chill the Glass

Place a rocks glass (or lowball glass) in the freezer for 10 minutes to keep your cocktail cold longer.

Step 2: Prepare the Orange Base

In a cocktail shaker, combine the fresh orange juice, vanilla simple syrup, and orange zest. Stir well to mix the flavors.

Step 3: Add the Liquors

Pour in the vodka and coffee liqueur into the shaker. Add ice cubes and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds to chill the mixture.

Step 4: Strain and Pour

Strain the mixture into the chilled glass filled with fresh ice cubes to keep it cool and undiluted.

Step 5: Add the Cream

Slowly pour the heavy cream (or half-and-half) over the back of a spoon so it gently floats on top of the drink before mixing in for a beautiful swirling effect.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

Garnish with an orange slice, a sprinkle of grated orange zest, or a vanilla sugar rim for an elegant touch. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed orange juice for the best natural citrus flavor.
  • Shaking the cocktail helps mix the orange juice and coffee liqueur evenly.
  • For a more pronounced vanilla flavor, add ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract directly to the cocktail.
