Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 ½ ounces vodka (plain or raspberry-flavored)
- 1 ½ ounces raspberry liqueur (Chambord is a popular choice)
- 1 ½ ounces sparkling champagne or prosecco
- Red sugar or edible glitter for glass rim (optional)
- 1 maraschino cherry or raspberry for garnish
- 1–2 drops red food coloring (optional, for extra dramatic effect)
Instructions
Preparation
Step 1:
Begin by chilling a martini glass. Place it in the freezer for a few minutes, or fill it with ice water and let it sit while you prepare the drink.
Step 2:
Prepare the rim of the glass by dipping it in a shallow plate of water, then rolling the rim in red sugar or edible glitter for an extra eye-catching effect. Set aside.
Step 3:
In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, raspberry liqueur, and a few drops of red food coloring if desired. Fill the shaker halfway with ice to properly chill the ingredients.
Step 4:
Shake the mixture vigorously for about 15-20 seconds, or until the shaker feels cold to the touch. This ensures the ingredients are well-mixed and perfectly chilled.
Step 5:
Strain the mixture into your prepared martini glass. Slowly pour the champagne over the top to add a sparkling finish.
Step 6:
Garnish with a maraschino cherry or a raspberry, letting it sink to the bottom for a “drop of blood” effect. Serve immediately.
Notes
When using fresh fruit like raspberries as a garnish, consider freezing them first. This keeps them firm and adds an extra chill to the drink as they slowly thaw in the glass.
