Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend) – For juicy and flavorful patties.
  • 8 slices of cheddar or American cheese – A creamy, melty topping for each patty.
  • 2 brioche burger buns – Soft and slightly sweet, the perfect foundation.
  • 3 tbsp burger sauce or spicy mayo – Adds a tangy, creamy flavor to the burger.
  • Salt and pepper to taste – Essential for seasoning the beef patties.
  • Optional: Lettuce, tomato slices, caramelized onions, or pickles for added layers of flavor and texture.

Instructions

Preparation:

Step 1:

Divide the ground beef into 8 equal-sized balls. Gently roll and shape the beef into loose spheres for easier smashing.

Step 2:

Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat until it is scorching hot. Place each beef ball onto the skillet and smash it flat using a sturdy spatula. The patties should be about 1/4-inch thick. Sprinkle each patty with salt and pepper to season.

Step 3:

Cook the patties for 2–3 minutes per side, allowing a golden-brown crust to form. Flip the patties once using a spatula.

Step 4:

As soon as you flip the patties, place a slice of cheddar or American cheese on top of each. Cover the skillet with a lid briefly to help the cheese melt evenly.

Step 5:

Lightly toast the brioche buns on the skillet or in a toaster for 1–2 minutes until golden and warm.

Step 6:

Spread burger sauce or spicy mayo on both the bottom and top buns for added tangy flavor.

Step 7:

Begin assembling your burger: Start with the bottom bun, layer a cheesy patty, add a slice of tomato or lettuce (optional), and repeat the process for a towering effect. Top it with the top bun to finish.

Notes

Cooking Notes:

  • To enhance the flavor of the patties, add a dash of garlic powder or paprika to the beef mixture before shaping the balls.
  • For extra juiciness, let the patties rest for 1–2 minutes after cooking to retain their natural juices.
  • If you prefer a smokier flavor, brush the patties with a light coating of BBQ sauce during the last minute of cooking.
