  • ½ oz tequila (silver or reposado)

  • ½ oz strawberry liqueur

  • ½ oz orange juice

  • ½ oz pineapple juice

  • ¼ oz grenadine (for the tornado effect)

  • Ice

Preparation

Step 1: Chill your ingredients
For best results, make sure all your ingredients are well-chilled. You can also chill your shot glasses in the freezer ahead of time for a frosty presentation.

Step 2: Combine and shake
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add ½ oz tequila, ½ oz strawberry liqueur, ½ oz orange juice, and ½ oz pineapple juice. Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds to chill and combine.

Step 3: Strain into shot glass
Strain the shaken mixture into a standard 2 oz shot glass. Leave a little room at the top.

Step 4: Add the grenadine
Slowly pour ¼ oz grenadine down the inside of the glass using the back of a spoon or a dropper. It will sink and swirl upward, creating the signature “tornado” effect.

Step 5: Garnish and serve
Garnish with a twist of orange zest or a slice of strawberry on the rim. Serve immediately while the swirl is still visible.

Notes

  • Use a good-quality tequila—silver keeps the color brighter while reposado adds depth

  • Shake well to emulsify the juices and alcohol for a smooth texture

  • Grenadine is heavy and will sink naturally—use a gentle pour for the best swirl

  • Don’t overfill the glass before adding grenadine or it may spill over during the pour

  • If you want multiple tornado shots at once, prepare each in a separate shaker for best presentation
