Piña Colada Sangria

Description

Imagine sipping on a refreshing tropical drink that combines the best of Piña Coladas and Sangria—that’s exactly what Piña Colada Sangria offers! This delightful cocktail blends white wine, pineapple juice, and coconut rum to create a light yet flavorful beverage perfect for summer days, beach parties, and festive gatherings.

Traditional sangria is often made with red or white wine, fruit, and a splash of spirits, but this version takes a tropical turn by incorporating coconut and pineapple flavors reminiscent of a classic Piña Colada.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of white wine (750 ml) – Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio work best
  • 2 cups pineapple juice (fresh or store-bought)
  • 1 cup coconut rum (such as Malibu or Bacardi Coconut)
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks (or canned, drained)
  • Maraschino cherries (for garnish)

Optional Additions:

  • ½ cup coconut cream (for a creamy version)
  • ½ cup club soda or sparkling water (for a fizzy touch)
  • Orange slices or mango chunks (for added fruitiness)

Instructions

Step 1: Combine the Liquids

In a large pitcher, pour the white wine, pineapple juice, and coconut rum. Stir well to combine.

Step 2: Add Fruit

Toss in fresh pineapple chunks and gently stir. The fruit will absorb the flavors of the sangria, making them even tastier!

Step 3: Chill

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for maximum flavor infusion). This allows the ingredients to blend beautifully.

Step 4: Serve

Fill glasses with ice, then pour the chilled sangria over the top.

Step 5: Garnish

Add a few maraschino cherries and a pineapple slice to each glass for a beautiful tropical presentation.

Notes

  • Choosing the Right Wine: A dry white wine like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, or Chardonnay works best. Avoid overly sweet wines, as the pineapple juice and coconut rum already add sweetness.
  • Balancing Sweetness: If the drink is too sweet for your taste, squeeze in some fresh lime juice to add acidity.
  • Best Rum Choice: Coconut rum adds flavor, but you can also use white rum with a splash of coconut extract.
  • Make It Stronger: Add an extra ½ cup of coconut rum for a boozier kick.
  • Non-Alcoholic Version: Replace the white wine with white grape juice or coconut water, and use coconut extract instead of rum for a refreshing mocktail.
