Ingredients:
For the Dip:
- 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup (100 g) packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream (optional for lighter consistency)
For the Pecan Topping:
- 1 cup (120 g) pecans, roughly chopped
- ⅓ cup (75 g) brown sugar
- ¼ cup (60 ml) heavy cream
- 1 tbsp (15 g) unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
Preparation:
Step 1: Prepare the Base Dip
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy.
- Add the brown sugar and vanilla extract to the mixture, continuing to beat until smooth and well combined.
- If you prefer a lighter consistency, slowly incorporate the heavy cream, beating until the desired texture is achieved.
Step 2: Make the Pecan Topping
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter.
- Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to bubble slightly.
- Add the chopped pecans, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to coat the pecans in the caramel mixture.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using as a topping.
Step 3: Assemble the Dip
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into a shallow serving dish or bowl.
- Spoon the warm pecan topping over the cream cheese layer, spreading gently to cover the top.
- Let the dip cool for 5–10 minutes to allow the topping to set.
Step 4: Serve
- Serve with an assortment of dippers, such as graham crackers, apple slices, pretzels, or vanilla wafers.
Notes
Cooking Notes:
- Ensure the cream cheese and butter are at room temperature for smooth blending.
- The pecan topping can be made a day in advance and reheated slightly before serving.
- For a firmer dip, refrigerate the cream cheese layer before adding the topping.
