Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 12 Oreo cookies
- 48 pretzel sticks
- 24 small candy eyes
- 1/4 cup of chocolate chips, melted (for adhering the eyes)
Instructions
Step 1: Gently twist each Oreo cookie to separate the halves. Be careful to keep the cream on one side of the cookie.
Step 2: Break the pretzel sticks in half to create the spider legs. You will need eight halves for each spider.
Step 3: Insert four pretzel stick halves into the cream side of each cookie, positioning them to look like spider legs. Press gently to ensure they stick into the cream.
Step 4: Using a small spoon or a toothpick, dab a little melted chocolate on the back of each candy eye.
Step 5: Stick two candy eyes on the cream of each cookie to make the spider’s eyes.
Variation:
For a colorful twist, use different flavored Oreos and colored candy melts to adhere the eyes. This not only adds a splash of color but also introduces a variety of flavors.
Notes
There is no baking or cooking required for this recipe, making it exceptionally safe and easy for young children to participate.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve these Oreo spiders on a platter surrounded by cobwebs made from cotton candy or on top of a dirt pudding to enhance the Halloween theme.
Tips:
- If the pretzel sticks break the cookie when inserted, try softening the cream with a warm spoon before inserting the sticks.
- Keep the cookies and pretzels at room temperature before assembly to prevent the cookies from cracking.
