Luxuriously Simple Lobster

  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 22 minutes (quick and easy!)

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 2 lobster tails (medium size, fresh or thawed)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (unsalted butter is preferred, but salted works too)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed for the best flavor)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (or use garlic powder if you don’t have fresh garlic)
  • Salt, to taste (sea salt or kosher salt for a more subtle, rich taste)
  • Pepper, to taste (freshly cracked black pepper)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation:

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This temperature is ideal for baking lobster tails as it cooks them quickly without drying them out, ensuring they remain juicy and flavorful.

Step 2: Prepare the Lobster Tails

Using kitchen shears or a sharp knife, carefully cut the lobster shells lengthwise from top to tail, making sure not to cut through the meat. Pry open the shell slightly, exposing the lobster meat. This step makes the lobster easier to eat while allowing the butter mixture to seep into the meat during baking.

Step 3: Make the Butter Mixture

In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, lemon juice, and minced garlic. Whisk the mixture together until it’s well blended. Add salt and pepper to taste, making sure the seasoning is evenly distributed. The butter mixture will serve as both a marinade and a basting sauce, infusing the lobster with rich flavors as it bakes.

Step 4: Brush the Lobster with the Butter Mixture

Generously brush the lobster meat with the butter mixture. Make sure to cover all exposed parts of the lobster, as this will ensure even seasoning and a rich, buttery taste. Reserve some of the butter mixture for basting during cooking and possibly for dipping after the lobsters are done.

Step 5: Bake the Lobster Tails

Place the lobster tails on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup. Bake the lobster tails for 10-12 minutes or until the meat becomes opaque and firm to the touch. The cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of the lobster tails, but you’ll know they’re ready when the meat is white, tender, and cooked through.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

Once out of the oven, garnish with fresh parsley to add a pop of color and freshness to the dish. You can also drizzle any remaining butter mixture over the top for extra richness. Serve the lobster tails immediately, with a side of melted butter for dipping if you wish.

Notes

COOKING Note:

  • Cooking Lobster Perfectly: Lobster tails cook very quickly, so keep an eye on them. The key to perfect lobster is ensuring it doesn’t overcook, as overcooked lobster can become tough and chewy. When the lobster meat turns opaque and firm, it’s done.
  • Butter Temperature: Make sure your butter is fully melted before mixing in the garlic and lemon juice, as this helps the flavors meld and coat the lobster evenly.
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes (includes preparing the butter mixture and cutting the lobster tails)
  • Cook Time: 12 minutes (depends on the size of the lobster tails)
