Honey Garlic Shrimp and Sausage Bake with Roasted Broccoli

  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
    • 1/4 cup honey
    • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium)
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • For the Bake:
    • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
    • 12 ounces smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
    • 4 cups broccoli florets
    • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
    • 1 small red onion, sliced
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray for easy cleanup.

Step 2: Make the Honey Garlic Sauce
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Set this sauce aside.

Step 3: Prepare the Vegetables
In a large bowl, toss broccoli florets, bell pepper slices, and red onion with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Spread the vegetables evenly on one side of the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4: Add Shrimp and Sausage
In the same bowl, toss the shrimp and sausage slices with half of the honey garlic sauce. Arrange them on the other side of the baking sheet, leaving some space between pieces for even cooking.

Step 5: Bake the Dish
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Roast for 12-15 minutes, flipping the shrimp and sausage halfway through to ensure even browning. The shrimp should turn pink and opaque, and the sausage should be browned.

Step 6: Glaze with Remaining Sauce
Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Drizzle the remaining honey garlic sauce over the shrimp, sausage, and vegetables. Toss gently to coat everything in the sauce.

Step 7: Broil for a Crispy Finish (Optional)
If desired, switch the oven to broil mode and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to caramelize the honey garlic sauce, giving the dish a crispy, sticky finish.
