Ingredients
- 1.5 oz vodka 🍸 (vanilla vodka is recommended for extra flavor)
- 1 oz hazelnut liqueur (Frangelico) 🌰
- 1 oz coffee liqueur (Kahlúa or Tia Maria) ☕
- 1 oz freshly brewed espresso ☕ (or strong coffee)
- 1 oz vanilla syrup (or vanilla simple syrup) 🍦
- 1 oz heavy cream or milk 🥛 (oat milk, almond milk, or coconut milk for a dairy-free option)
- Ice cubes ❄️ (to fill the shaker)
- Whipped cream for garnish 🍦 (optional)
- Crushed hazelnuts for garnish 🌰 (optional)
- Cocoa powder or cinnamon for dusting 🍫
Instructions
Step 1: Brew the Espresso
Start by brewing a fresh shot of espresso and setting it aside to cool slightly. If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can use strongly brewed coffee. Make sure it’s bold and concentrated for the best flavor.
Step 2: Prepare Your Shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes. The ice will chill the ingredients and help create a smooth and well-mixed martini.
Step 3: Add the Liquors
Pour the following into the shaker:
- 1.5 oz vodka (vanilla vodka enhances the sweetness, but regular vodka works too).
- 1 oz hazelnut liqueur (Frangelico) for a deep, nutty taste.
- 1 oz coffee liqueur (Kahlúa or Tia Maria) to enhance the espresso notes.
Step 4: Add the Espresso and Vanilla Syrup
Pour in the freshly brewed espresso and 1 oz of vanilla syrup. The vanilla brings out the natural sweetness of the drink and complements the hazelnut and coffee flavors beautifully.
Step 5: Add the Cream
Pour in 1 oz of heavy cream or milk. This will make the drink smooth, creamy, and luxurious. If you prefer a lighter version, use low-fat milk or a dairy-free alternative like oat milk.
Step 6: Shake Well
Secure the lid of the shaker and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. This helps to chill the ingredients while creating a light, foamy texture.
Step 7: Strain and Serve
Strain the cocktail into a chilled martini glass to maintain its elegant presentation.
Step 8: Garnish and Enjoy
Top with whipped cream, sprinkle with crushed hazelnuts, and dust with cocoa powder or cinnamon for an extra touch of indulgence.
