Galaxy Piña Colada

  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 7 minutes

Ingredients

To make this vibrant, cosmic cocktail, you’ll need:

  • 2 oz dark rum (or white rum for a milder taste)

  • 1 oz blue curaçao (for the deep blue galaxy effect)

  • 1 oz coconut cream (for that creamy, tropical flavor)

  • 2 oz pineapple juice (adds natural sweetness and a golden glow)

  • ½ oz lime juice (for a slight citrusy tang that balances the sweetness)

  • 1 cup ice cubes (for a frozen, slushy consistency)

  • 1/4 tsp edible shimmer dust (optional, but enhances the galaxy effect)

  • Pineapple slice (for garnish)

  • Maraschino cherry (for garnish)

  • Whipped cream (optional, for extra flair)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Glass

Before blending your drink, prepare your glass for the galaxy effect. Dip the rim of a hurricane or tall glass in honey or simple syrup, then coat it with shimmer dust or sugar crystals for a sparkling touch.

Step 2: Blend the Piña Colada Base

In a blender, combine:

  • Rum

  • Coconut cream

  • Pineapple juice

  • Lime juice

  • Ice cubes

Blend until smooth and creamy. This forms the golden base of your Galaxy Piña Colada. Pour half of the mixture into the prepared glass and set aside.

Step 3: Create the Galaxy Swirl

To achieve the galaxy color effect, add the blue curaçao and a pinch of edible shimmer dust to the remaining mixture in the blender. Blend for a few more seconds until the color is fully incorporated.

Step 4: Layer the Colors

Slowly pour the blue mixture over the yellow mixture in the glass. To create a galaxy swirl effect, use a straw or spoon to gently stir the two layers together in a circular motion. The colors will naturally blend to form a mesmerizing cosmic swirl.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Top the drink with a pineapple slice, a maraschino cherry, and optional whipped cream for extra flair. Serve with a straw and watch as the colors continue to swirl like a mini galaxy in a glass.

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed pineapple juice for a more vibrant and natural sweetness. Store-bought juice works, but fresh juice elevates the flavor.

  • Coconut cream vs. Coconut milk – Coconut cream is thicker and richer, making the drink creamier. If using coconut milk, go for full-fat for the best consistency.

  • Blending tip – Start with less ice and add more if needed to avoid a watery texture. The ideal consistency is thick but drinkable.
