Ingredients
- 2 oz coffee liqueur (e.g., Kahlúa or Tia Maria)
- 1 oz vodka (preferably a good-quality vodka)
- 1 oz chocolate liqueur (e.g., Godiva or Mozart)
- 1/2 oz heavy cream (for a smoother texture)
- 1 oz freshly brewed espresso (or strong coffee)
- Chocolate syrup (for drizzling)
- Cocoa powder or chocolate shavings (for garnish)
- Ice cubes (for shaking)
- Optional: Whipped cream (for topping)
Instructions
Step 1: Chill Your Glass – Begin by chilling your martini glass. Simply place the glass in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink. This ensures that your martini stays cold throughout.
Step 2: Brew the Espresso – Brew a small shot of fresh espresso or make a strong cup of coffee. You can also use coffee from a French press or an espresso machine for a richer flavor. Let it cool for a few minutes before using it in the martini.
Step 3: Mix the Ingredients – In a cocktail shaker, combine the coffee liqueur, vodka, chocolate liqueur, heavy cream, and espresso. Add a generous amount of ice cubes to the shaker.
Step 4: Shake – Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This will chill the ingredients and create a nice frothy texture, especially from the cream.
Step 5: Prepare the Glass – Once your shaker has been thoroughly shaken, remove the ice from your chilled martini glass. If you want to add a decorative touch, drizzle chocolate syrup around the inside of the glass before pouring the cocktail.
Step 6: Strain and Serve – Carefully strain the mixture from the shaker into the prepared martini glass. The cocktail should have a smooth, creamy consistency with a slight froth on top.
Step 7: Garnish – To finish, sprinkle a small amount of cocoa powder or chocolate shavings over the top. You can also top the drink with whipped cream if you like an extra creamy treat.
Notes
- For a thicker, richer drink, use half-and-half or whipped cream instead of heavy cream. This will make the martini even more indulgent and creamy.
- If you’re looking for a stronger coffee flavor, increase the espresso and reduce the cream slightly. Adjust the amount of coffee liqueur to balance the bitterness with the sweetness.
- You can adjust the sweetness of the cocktail by experimenting with the amount of chocolate syrup or chocolate liqueur. For a less sweet version, cut back on the syrup or opt for a dark chocolate liqueur.
- For a unique twist, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the shaker for added warmth and spice.
