Candy Corn Milkshake

  • Author: Imili Johnson
  • Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • Vanilla Ice Cream – 2 cups, softened slightly
  • Milk – 1/2 cup (use more or less to achieve desired consistency)
  • Candy Corn Syrup – 1/4 cup (see preparation for homemade option)
  • Yellow and Orange Food Coloring – a few drops each
  • Whipped Cream – for garnish
  • Candy Corn – a handful for decoration
  • Sugar Sprinkles (optional) – orange and yellow, for rimming the glass

Instructions

Preparation

Step 1: Prepare the Candy Corn Syrup
To make the homemade candy corn syrup, add 1/2 cup of candy corn and 1/2 cup of water to a small saucepan. Heat over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the candy corn completely melts and forms a smooth syrup. Let it cool before adding it to the milkshake.

Step 2: Blend the Base Layer
In a blender, combine 1 cup of vanilla ice cream, 1/4 cup of milk, and a few drops of yellow food coloring. Blend until smooth. Pour this mixture into the bottom third of a clear milkshake glass to form the yellow base layer. Place the glass in the freezer to keep this layer firm.

Step 3: Prepare the Orange Layer
Rinse out the blender, then add the remaining 1 cup of vanilla ice cream, the candy corn syrup, and a few drops of orange food coloring. Blend until smooth. Gently pour this mixture over the yellow layer in the glass, filling up to about two-thirds of the glass. Place back in the freezer to keep layers distinct.

Step 4: Create the White Top Layer
Blend together 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream with a small splash of milk (omit food coloring for a white layer). Carefully pour this over the orange layer in the glass, filling the glass to the top.

Step 5: Add Toppings
Finish the milkshake with a generous swirl of whipped cream. Garnish with candy corn pieces, and if desired, sprinkle with orange and yellow sugar sprinkles for an extra pop of color and flavor.

Notes

  • Be mindful of layer consistency. Using ice cream that’s too soft or adding too much milk can cause layers to mix, so make sure each layer has the right texture before assembling.
  • Adjust food coloring to achieve the desired shades for each layer, starting with a few drops and adding more if needed.
